Why I love FolderShare
So if you haven't already, I invite you to download FolderShare here. What is FolderShare you ask? Its a file synchronization technology that will allow syncing up even behind firewalls and NAT routers using a transversal technique. Microsoft purchased the company back in November of 2005. Now since I'm a consultant I do most of my work on my laptop there was a real need to have certain folders and files accessed on different computers or even online. So for example there's a feature of MS Live Messenger that allows you to keep a log of previous conversations you have had. Its nothing more than a text file that stores this data. I thought how great it would be if I can get my Live Messenger history on all my computers that I use Live Messenger on which is current three.
So I went onto the FolderShare site and browsed to my folder where the MS Live Messenger logs were being written to and had it sync' d up with my two desktops and other laptop. In five minutes I was downloading the FolderShare client and all computers were now able to see my previous conversations which is great. You can also have the files encrypted over the wire so you don't have to worry about security and you can access your files on the FolderShare web site if you NEED to access them from another computer. I just think this is a hidden gem. Download it now.
